The Merchant City Festival presents some of the best of Scottish and international art and entertainment with a programme of street arts, music, theatre, food & drink, visual art, film, comedy, dance, fashion & design and children & families activities, while at the same time showcasing the unique cultural hub that is the Merchant City. This nine day event is now the centrepiece of the city’s summer calendar.

The carnival cavalcade comes to town! Come along, join the fun, make some noise and shake your maracas! Kick off the Merchant City Festival in celebratory style. Leaving from Cathedral Precinct.
A one off performance of epic proportions! Expect a riot of colour and sound in George Square when 300 players of massed drums and brass join forces.
A high energy, riotous drum, dance and costume extravaganza celebrating contemporary carnival culture with the UK’s most exciting carnival bands.
Inspire their creative side with lively art workshops in sculpture, costume and much more in Merchant Square. A must for school holidays!
The sing along sensation sweeping the nation! The idea is simple. The brilliant Massaoke band plays huge anthems and the crowd sings along TOGETHER guided by lyrics on giant screens.
A delightful afternoon of tea, cake and dance tuition from The Kennedy Cupcakes with the quickstep, foxtrot and waltz’ soundtrack provided by the best big band in town - That Swing Sensation.
Festival favourites Surge hit the streets with their unique blend of chaotic, hilarious and always surprising outdoor performance. What will be unleashed? You’ll have to come along and find out!
